Last Monday Night’s City Council Fight Card featured a proposed 179-unit residential development at 150 East Eighth St. “signaling a sense of arrival into Central Lonsdale,” says city planning director Michael Epp… Or is it really a “further sense of more unprecedented gentrified density” that city residents will never be able to afford!”

Last Monday night’s city council meeting remained true to form, as the mayor and his team slate councillors “empowered” “4 to 3” – heralded in favour of more density in front of a large turnout regarding the Crest Adera Project at 150 East 8th Street, CD-688.  Mostly whom expressed their concerns over it’s massiveness and towering heights incorporating 179 suites, insufficient elevators, increased traffic volume, having a dead end lane emergency vehicle access, shrinking green spaces and inconveniently located recycling bins.  The few in total favour of this proposal of course did not live in this neighbourhood.  In other words a Mussatto Team Councillor/Developer proposal and NOT a  neighbourly commutative upgrade proposal.  An ostensibly, seemingly NIMBY DISCONNECT by the mayor and his self-serving team councillors.
