The countdown is on not only for Density Darrel Mussatto as mayor, but also the departure – the end of the line for my CNV editorial cartoon blog… There were many themed Arty and Density Darrell blogs I could have chosen re: that’s a wrap… but this one in particular exemplifies the contrast between “principled” Aristolski and “unscrupulous” mayor Mussatto… September 2016, enjoy.
Tonight’s city council meeting should again not be any different from any previous city council meeting when it comes to “stacking the deck” in favour of their developer pals and appropriating large sums of taxpayers’ cash to their campaign donor buds to Mussatto’s Team Slate closing down 26 St. West at Lonsdale based on a sham Pezzente traffic study “contradicting” ICBC’s legitimate traffic study report.
The majority of 26 St. neighbourhood did not favour the oversized foot print for the new development or want to lose their green space or street access to Lonsdale. But when you are just a taxpaying resident and not a Mussatto campaign investor the odds will never ever be in your favour… But tonight’s road closure doesn’t stop here. They also want to create a bylaw to: close and remove highway dedication off 100 Block East 22nd Street. #UpperLonsdaleUnite #Vote4ChangeOct20
But there is a twilight of good news in tonight’s meeting… a Notice of Motion by wannabe mayor Rod Clark wants the city to endorse the recommendation of the BC Rental Housing Task Force: that the maximum rental increase be cut from inflation plus 2% to inflation only, and that the automatic 2% increase be eliminated.
What happened during last Monday Night’s City Council Fight Card should be an indication in what to expect next week… Like Mussatto’s developer pal Polygon Gallery looking to grab more taxpayer’s money. A 2014 Mussatto campaign donor whom under poor management low-balled their operational costs and its sustainability into the future. Luckily for taxpayers their “11th hour $225 bridged finance request” has been at least deferred to at least next Monday’s city council meeting or will it be deferred to city council’s last chance meeting on October 29th… after CNV citizens have decided if it is time for change or not.
Meanwhile out on the mayoral campaign trail two of our despicable city councillor’s Buchanan n’ Clark are flooding and polluting front lawns and defecating green spaces with their damn wannabe mayoral signs. Two anti NIMBY’s voicing similar sanctimonious robotic platforms that would enable either one IF elected to further deconstruct and devastate the social wellness and livability of our city… All you have to do discerning voters is look at their evidentiary pro density city council records over the last four years. #EnoughBullShit
If anything you have to hand it to mayor Darrell R. Mussatto, for he did it his way. His empowered “4 to 3” elected Team Slate enabled him to coerce behind closed doors his en mass fornicating CityShaping and psycho-ling path agenda into every corner and all points within our enclaved city. The lack luster turnout in our last election was all Mussatto needed to turn our city into an unaffordable, congested, irreversible Manhattan backlot heading into the next decade! #cnvSOL
And now mayor Mussatto has Councillor Linda Buchanan waiting in the wings – raring to complete his en masse CityShaping Manhattan Project. Also don’t let wannabe night-mayor Buchanan trip you up in believing she just now decided “this year” to run for mayor. She actually made it known TWO YEARS AGO as I then illustrated in a number of blogs. #hocuspocusBuchanan
*Email Update: Was just asked why I had “crowned” Linda Buchanan… sources tell me she can be quite the “drama queen.”
But what is disingenuously quite clear is the mayor did not announce he was retiring from City Hall governance until March of this year. Which is WTF: well after Buchanan’s initial announcement TWO YEARS AGO! They BOTH KNEW back in the summer of 2016 Density Darrell was not running for re-election! There is no way anyone could ever convince me Buchanan would dare run against her density idle. DRM had already made up his mind NOT TO RUN for re-election as far back as the summer of 2016! #hocuspocusMussatto
Tonight members of Council will each rank the identified projects in the 2018-2027 Draft Preliminary Project Plan and return the results to the Finance Department by November 6, 2017… Really, and where in the hell did the city find these soothsayers and why 10 years!
From my POV it is irresponsible to ALLOW this city council to DICTATE the financial priorities/projects upon our city when most of them will probably become null and void after our 2018 elections! Future priorities however preliminary should be part and parcel “conducive to the changing unforeseeable conditions in any given year.” And I also can’t help but wonder if our city’s future project initiatives list will offer an affordable housing “land trust building” i.e. constructing affordable housing rentals like Vancouver’s mayor Robertson has just successfully opened in his city – getting in front of affordable housing.
Perhaps the good news is after next year’s election the new “independent” city council might be in a position to selectively repeal and replace these bucket lists… Much like our farcical OCP. There is absolutely nothing ‘official’ or ‘binding’ within our Official Community Plan. It has no backbone, no teeth, no resiliency; it should be heralded in what it is has succumbed to be: a Non Binding City Plan – heresy! #NBCP
Tonight city council will like they have done at EVERY CITY COUNCIL MEETING SINCE THE 2014 ELECTIONS. i.e. Mussatto and his colluding team slate councillors will “payback”, “elevating” developer projects beyond our city’s capacity. Thereby continuing to make a mockery out of our OCP; aided and abetted by Mussatto’s $86K bonused CAO and his adjunct city planners, but only for 362 more days… and in other news.
