How in the hell mayor and city councillor despicables can Darwin Construction via Colliers International Realty have had the audacity to send out to local business/retail establishments earlier this week a mail-out brochure prior any final decision making on their “leased” commercial spaces.  Retail floor plans they are currently advertising as office spaces you can now “own!” i.e. after complying with the requirements of the BC Real Estate Dev. Marketing Act and filing a disclosure statement.  #unlawfulAct

Two weeks ago city council only approved the rezoning of the Harry Jerome Lands to new unprecedented fornicating heights.  “NOTHING IS YET ETCHED IN STONE REGARDING THE FINAL USE OF THESE LANDS – TO BE DECIDED “IN COMBINE” WITH CITY COUNCIL AND NOT BEFORE THE NEW HJ REC CENTRE HAS BEEN APPROVED!”  #FoulPlay

Back in the nineties I was for 3 years the Art Director for the largest architect firm at the time in Alberta (TCEP).  I know how much design time and print turnaround it takes to produce one of these “sophisticated” candy coated colour brochures.  I designed umpteen of these type brochures, AO Boards and their annual calendar during my years at this architect firm.  Whom in 2010 merged with other architect and engineer firms across Canada and are now collectively known as DIALOG.

The point I am making is my credentials tell me this was not an overnight rush job!  Darwin under wraps may have been GREEN LIT months ago – prior the rezoning HJ Lands Public Hearing from only two weeks ago!  #collusion  #InsideJob

Darwin “is” a double-dipping donor to Mussatto’s 2014 campaign and is about to be richly rewarded 8 YEAR FOLD.  No commercial realtor would EVER RISK being LIABLE in selling retail space in a building(s) that has not yet been APPROVED by the respective CITY COUNCIL!  Nor would they ever be willing to waste money on a brochure on behalf of their “client” (Darwin) if they knew CNV City Council/City Planners and “mayor” were completely onside for this en mass mammoth fornicating development!  #InsideTrading

Carpet Density-Bombing coming to EVERY NEIGHBOURHOOD thanks to: they’re (Holly) back – aka Mussatto Team Bandits!


Carpetbagger Witchy Back is back in Mussatto’s Team Fold – turning a deaf ear, “overriding” yet another neighbourhood’s protests/concerns at a Public Hearing over the wrong kind of density on their street by yet another Mussatto empowered hijacking “4 to 3” scorecard.

Seriously, why do we even bother having Public Hearings when the “majority” of the concerns on any given recorded development is ignored.  Which by the way was the exact sentiments of those against this twining housing project i.e. left helpless and in disgust with “Mussatto’s Team Knows Best Slate”.  A neighbourhood like so many in our city losing its character for the almighty sake of densification, deconstructing and alienating neighbours from each other.

Wannabe night-mayor Buchanan and the rest of her Team Buffoons want to tear down one neighbourhood after another and screw zoning bylaws by setting a strong message to any homeowner who wants to redevelop their property in (as Back put it) ‘tiny little houses’… ‘twining infill houses, each over 3,000 sq. ft.’ providing unsightly density for up to 4 families and with only two extended family and friends front parking spots! 

Which leads me to today’s blog… with the just passed “double your money” housing project that will surely encourage other single family home owners to follow suit under the umbrella of skyrocketing home prices.  Will our entire city council turn their backs on an entire neighbourhood during the upcoming Monday Night’s Harry Jerome Public Hearing dedicated to the en masse deconstruction of two Upper Lonsdale city blocks.  (If ever I want to be wrong)

In one corner we have Councillors Bell, Clark & Bookham wanting to bulldoze the existing HJCRC, lawn bowling, Silver Harbour Centre, tennis courts and Norsman (skateboard) Park and titanic-size it one block north with an all encompassing enchilada Community Sports Centre costing over $200 million hinged and dependent on ripping up existing height and masse city building bylaws: succumbing to Mussatto’s double dipping campaign “investor” Darwin Construction.

Mayor Mussatto and his anti NIMBY councillors Buchanan, Keating & Back may not like the idea of spending $200 million of city taxpayers money on a new HJ ‘Monster SportsPlex’.  But in order to pay back their campaign donor Darwin they must in copious approve a new Harry Jerome Watering Hole.  Without joint adjudication, there can be no unprecedented towering development on the existing Harry Jerome Lands.  Welcome to CNV Politics 101… where every neighbourhood is the property of Mussatto’s city council and his notorious city planners!

Vancouver’s proposed unaffordable rentals are now the new affordable rentals – the new “gentrified standard”. A step in the right direction to surely resolve our city’s low rental crisis – right?


Alas my worst low income housing fears are coming to fruition when you have Vancouver City and their city planners resolving their low income housing crisis by building WTH: “for profit affordable rental housing”.

And profits there will certainly be: a walk-in closet size studio’s will go for $1,385 a month.  A little one bedroom is $1,638 a month, a ’70’s sized one bedroom is now a two bedroom for only $2,459 a month and a three-bedroom cookie cutter is only WTF: $3,109!  Welcome to the Vancouver’s new low income family affordable unaffordable rental housing.

And of course CNV is mirroring Vancouver’s low rental hypocrisy with our current asinine new rental project base criteria 10/10/10: 10% of units at 10% under market value and for only 10 years!  Full market rental rates which will exceed the aforementioned “for profit affordable rental housing” when our new “mortgage rate” rental developments come to market in 2019/20.  #cnvSOL

But what is really worrying-some in our little enclave density compacted city is: there is virtually NO LAND LEFT to construct low affordable housing.  And thus any Provincial and/or Federal grant financial assistance for “real affordable” low income housing can never be realized!

…Unless instead of building a new damn Mega Sportsplex we reserve portions of these newfound lands for future Federal/Provincial subsidized low income housing.  Thus saving Norseman Park, lawn bowling greens, tennis courts, Silver Harbour Seniors Centre and renovating our existing Harry Jerome, i.e. sparing them from Darwin’s guillotine: a Mussatto double dipping campaign donor.  #noMoreDensity

And for the record a Harry Jerome renovation is realistically possible, much like we have witnessed throughout our city as developer after developer has been demolishing blocks of “50 to 60 year old walk-up apartment buildings” – replacing them with larger more energy efficient rental housing It is really that easy and cost effective.

But sadly we have a majority of city councillors who want to take away the “integrity” of our Harry Jerome “community recreational centre” and turn it into a farcical Sports Paradise by the only means available… “DEVASTATING” an entire neighbourhood for 8 YEARS!  #lestWeForgetOctober20

Two wrongs don’t make a right. A proposed $200 million ‘plus’ HJ Sportsplex to be paid by ‘sacrificing’ and ‘crushing’ an entire neighbourhood for ‘8 years’ by Mussatto’s double-dipping donor Darwin.


The feature bout from last Monday Night’s fight card was reinforcing the need for a public town hall meeting featuring this year’s Main Event:  Building a new Harry Jerome Sports Enchilada that no other North Shore city would dare venture and all on the backs of a neighbourhood who have overwhelming been against this “Sports” not ‘Community’ Rec Centre AND chained to its hip is an 8 year crushing towering OCP rezoning en masse Mussatto donor development!

The odds on favourite i.e. hitting below the money belt favours a new Community “Sporting” Harry Jerome mega structure and an en masse Darwin twin towering development i.e. basically shitting on the neighbourhood residents.  Screw you NIMBY’s, senior lawn bowlers and Norseman Park – skateboard lovers.   We (Back, Bell, Bookham, Clark) can get re-elected without your damn NIMBY support on October 20th!

Here are just a few choice video clips I pulled from last Monday’s city council meeting dealing with the new proposed HJ ‘Sports Centre’ & Darwin Lands verses the city’s neighbourhood from each councillor.  Which I am sure all will be reiterating at the June 18th Public Hearing…  Even our mayor is on record (District  Trojan Crier aka NSN) saying: you don’t buy the house and then figure out how to pay for it.

You can’t have one: a ‘new Harry Jerome’ without leasing out the other: ‘HJ Lands’… but I thought this agenda was about opting in or out for a casino?


As Councillor Rod Clark would say “w-w-e-ell…” I thought this agenda was to be about opting in or out having a city casino.  Boy was I ever wrong after doing my video composite in using casino only related dialogue from our city chamber’s head table.  The “Amalgamation Study – Taking The Next Steps” had very little to do if council was in favour or not in favour in having a casino.  Rather it had a lot more to do with how to pay or how not to pay for the new Harry Jerome proposed MegaSportsDome verses the mammoth Darwin development’s leasing jackpot potential.  #CasinoBust

Councillors Bell & Clark who are in favour of the en masse Darwin Lands Development subsidizing their $200 million MegaSportsDome and lest we forget the 2021 contingency overruns and annual operational costs uh, forgot to mention or they did not know that the Darwin Properties current “master plan” will require WTF: “8 years of density polluting construction!”  #NIMBY!  #howDareYou!

As it turns out, of the 26 minutes spent on Monday night’s casino study, I could only find approximately “4 minutes” of actual dedicated, identifiable casino language.  Again most of the time was spent haggling over how to pay for the new $200 million Harry Jerome Rec Facility or wanting in on the Darwin development scale and services to be appropriated on “our” cha-ching city’s leased land.  #electionDealBreaker
