You can’t have one: a ‘new Harry Jerome’ without leasing out the other: ‘HJ Lands’… but I thought this agenda was about opting in or out for a casino?


As Councillor Rod Clark would say “w-w-e-ell…” I thought this agenda was to be about opting in or out having a city casino.  Boy was I ever wrong after doing my video composite in using casino only related dialogue from our city chamber’s head table.  The “Amalgamation Study – Taking The Next Steps” had very little to do if council was in favour or not in favour in having a casino.  Rather it had a lot more to do with how to pay or how not to pay for the new Harry Jerome proposed MegaSportsDome verses the mammoth Darwin development’s leasing jackpot potential.  #CasinoBust

Councillors Bell & Clark who are in favour of the en masse Darwin Lands Development subsidizing their $200 million MegaSportsDome and lest we forget the 2021 contingency overruns and annual operational costs uh, forgot to mention or they did not know that the Darwin Properties current “master plan” will require WTF: “8 years of density polluting construction!”  #NIMBY!  #howDareYou!

As it turns out, of the 26 minutes spent on Monday night’s casino study, I could only find approximately “4 minutes” of actual dedicated, identifiable casino language.  Again most of the time was spent haggling over how to pay for the new $200 million Harry Jerome Rec Facility or wanting in on the Darwin development scale and services to be appropriated on “our” cha-ching city’s leased land.  #electionDealBreaker

“I’m a zit get it” Planning Dir Epp thinks he can OVERRIDE City Councils majority decision PROHIBITING GAMING FACILITIES by tonight RECOMMENDING the city Adopts Zoning Amendments to Clarify that “Gaming could be Permitted through (Neighbourhood) Site-Specific Zoning.” His Animal House antics should be grounds for dismissal!


When you have an upstart OCP Director of Planning willing to OVERTURN and IGNORE city council decisive stay in prohibiting gaming facilities in all neighbourhoods!  Proves just how underhanded our mayor and city planning department have all become.  Undermining our community neighbourhoods calling them callously “site specific”.  #thejigisup

We have 3 city councillors: “neighbourhood site specific” Buchanan, Back, Keating and the mayor tied to a financially strapped double dipping donor Darwin Properties project that will ultimately destroy and up-heave a neighbourhood with EIGHT YEARS of construction!  And we have 3 city councillors: Bookham, Bell and Clark proposing to spend over $160 million on a MegaRecDome with insufficient monies in their HJ coffers!

There isn’t one financial institution in the world that would finance either one of these projects – otherwise they would have.  This squandering of taxpayers money has to stop, but how I have no idea unless there is a mass peoples revolt which I am in no way thwarting, yet.  A triple whammy right smack dab in the face of every city taxpayer!  Perhaps the only way to stop this crafted density madness is by NOT RE-ELECTING any of these city councillors in October.  #OustAllCityCouncillors

And then with a new hopefully untainted city council in place (and new city planning director) perhaps roadblocks can be set up making these projects nonviable or at least abbreviated as they will both be in very early financially unsecured stages of development. 

First and foremost after the new city council has been elected, it should consider putting these projects in escrow, suspending our OCP – and maybe doing a little city planning house cleaning… The sale of cannabis is inevitable but the city’s tax revenue share will not be enough to finance one never mind both projects financial shortcomings.

And this is where the mayor’s largest gaming donor, Tom Nellis comes out from behind the greased curtain and embraces the mayor and his three despicable indebted team slate councillors and count me in: Councillors Bookham, Clark and Bell. “I knew I could count on you all to do whatever it would take in order to build my casino. …moo-waah” #KissOfDeath

TransLink’s Second Phase Expansion SHUNS North Shore!


Translink feels all we need “to hold us over” on yonder North Shore is a couple more buses and one more scheduled seabus during peak hours…. sounds fair if you live in Surrey or looking for a new rail transit extension from Broadway to UBC.  #ScrewNorthShore

NOW that we know the North Shore is not a priority with the Translink brass and with traffic and commuter congestion at an all time precedent high.  Our transportation problems can only IMPLODE then EXPLODE since Translink will not be seriously addressing our dire transportation issues until MAYBE Phase 3 – ten years from now! 

Our North Shore cities (especially CNV) must STOP all new “proposed” high rise development like: Darwin’s HJ Lands as we now know is SHORT ON CASH and “is going to take WTF 8+ years to complete!”  A project strongly opposed during the last Town Hall Meeting.  A development in total disregard to OCP zoning height restrictions and will further handicap our traffic woes, increase street parking shortages and further contribute to our city bus overloads – all in the name of North Van Fornication.

Same holds true re: $160+ million HJ MegaDome that will take 3+ YEARS to complete and will be SHARING 23rd Street with Darwin’s en masse development!  #RenovateHarryJeromeRecCentre  #ItCanBeDone

Battle Royal: new Harry Jerome Centre vs. odds on favourite double dipping Mussatto donor Darwin Properties.


Here we are 28 days since the mayor has faced the cameras at a city hall meeting.  And what we saw, err didn’t see, during the almost 5 hour marathon was very little camera imagery of our infamous mayor, especially when he had his microphone turned on discussing the issues from his perspective.  Why was that Grinch… am I and others having a definitive impact on your hyperbole demeanor?

A majority of the camera framing for agenda item #16 (below) was a 3 shot of councillors Buchanan, Back and Clark.  Why was that Darrell, why all of a sudden have you become so camera shy during city hall meetings – hmm.  And yet when you want to give yourself a vainglorious pat on the back – you can’t wait to share it’s infamy with the television/print media.  #MussattoDoubleExposure

Mussatto Campaign Double Dipping Darwin Properties overtake of the proposed Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands is like every previous highrise developer that helped finance Mussatto’s 2014 campaign i.e. fornicating OCP’s TOOTHLESS Guidelines!


 Perhaps we should begin renaming the Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands “The Darwin I.O.U. Neighbourhood Lands”  The AUDACITY of Darwin proposing such a MAXIMUM SIZED development that could (will) include a 32 high storey condo PROVES just how deep they are into the mayor’s IOU pockets; with his city planners falling over backwards desperately seeking their nefarious commandant’s approval on this project!

Read’em and Weep: HARRY JEROME NEIGHBOURHOOD LANDS PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND POTENTIAL AMENITIES:  THAT my staff proceed with processing a rezoning and Official Community Plan amendment for the Harry Jerome Lands substantially as outlined in the report of the Director, Planning dated March 7, 2018, including:
– density of up to 2.5 FSR, including additional density to secure on-site amenities; (OMG)
– tower heights of up to 32 storey;
– creation of transferable density on the future Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre site – WTF!

Under mayor MASSassto’s regime there has been absolutely NO REGARD to the fact we are already well over 2041 Regional Strategy (density/population) Levels… much like our OCP Guidelines a FARCICAL SHAM!  #replaceOCP2019

Now we’ll have to wait and see which corner office position Grinch has accepted.  Could it be at Onni/RPMG or Translink… I mean really, who else would be willing to use his convolute talents?  Wait a minute, oh yeah, Polygon, Anthem, Concert, Hollyburn, BCLC casinos or will he eventually end up in an executive suite on the 24th or is it 32nd floor at the Darwin Neighbourhood Lands?  #WeHaveHadEnoughOfMayorMussatto

Upcoming 21 Street “Black Top” should be a testy KUMBAYAH interlude between cyclists and seniors SHARING the same pathway!


Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre accessibility is on a collusion course with cyclists according to many seniors who use the SHSAC on a regular basis.  And what is so asinine about this is WHY the city wants to proceed with this BLACK TOP BIKE PATH when city council is proposing REDEVELOPMENT of these lands along with the HJCRC by campaign double dipper donor Darwin Properties.   Is it not conceivable this pathway may need to be altered, re-worked into the developer’s final pedestrian/traffic flow schematics.  Or is the mayor that convinced these lands will not be handed over to Darwin Properties.  i.e. The mayor and his Team Slate Collusion have already decided 4 to 3 in not having a new HJCRCentre at this location?  In the meantime our infamous mayor’s Black Necklace final link will not be deterred or denied…  all hail Commandant Mussatto’s dam bike legacy!

Again… any chance for an Integrated North Shore Planning Project to have any kind of success especially within our city limits, it must first REALIZE ALL future and proposed High Rise Developments must be STOPPED dead in their tracks!  A number of projects come to mind, one being an unwanted casino (with hotel?), another is the proposed too big for its britches massive Harry Jerome Rec Centre.  And where HJCRC and seniors lawn bowling have been located for over 50 years is where double dipping campaign donor Darwin Properties want to add around 1,500 MORE residents to our already 2041 growth rate – enough density!
