All Aboard, it’s Official: Every NVCouncil Member is ONSIDE with OMG TOWERING DENSITY!


With Councillors Bell, Bookham and Clark on board for the en masse towering of the proposed HJ Lands Darwin Lands in order to finance their $200+ million Rogers Harry Jerome Coliseum.  We now have ALL city councillors and the mayor in unison caroling “where else can we put density!”  Gone are the days of these three city councillors supporting NIMBY’s in their quest for less density.  ‘Cause you see folks “community density trumps hypocrisy!”  #EnoughBullCrap

In fact these turncoat city councillors are more than ready to help the mayor’s double dipping 2014 campaign investors Darwin Properties deconstruct two blocks of a neighbourhood for eight long years!  Having seemingly turned their backs on an entire neighbourhood community.

Outside of perhaps city councillor Keating feeling pressure from this his neighbourhood – it looks like a done deal on a scale not yet carved in stone.  There is an apparent nonsensical haste by Councillors Bell, Bookham and Clark (along with councillor Back & wannabe mayor Buchanan) to ramrod these two joined at the hips whoring projects through before the next election in 135 days/19 weeks.

I believe a “majority” of Upper Lonsdale residents will be drawing a line in the sand at “both ends” of the existing Harry Jerome Lands.  If these two farcical developments come to fruition via our sitting council, there should be an en masse “demo-vote-eviction” of these city councillors on October 20th.  #LestWeForget  #ElectionPayBack

We need city councillors to support and prioritize each community’s “unique” social concerns and interests before any:  for the glory of the North Shore drivel.  #EnoughDensity!

Rise Up CNVites: VOTE transparency back into city hall democracy on October 20th!


I see DNVC mayor Walton like our infamous CNV mayor is heading for cover – fast tracking to the exit!  Realizing like mayor Grinch: traffic, unaffordablility and density levels are so out of control that even he can’t or just doesn’t want to resolve i.e. unwilling to further tarnish his vainglorious legacy much like DMW Mussatto.  #EnoughBS

Two inept mayors having led the charge in highrise over-densification, commuter gridlock, parking shortages or local small businesses unable to sustain or maintain full & part-time help.  And lest we forget Mussatto demovicting and eliminating hundreds and hundreds of renters and young families from affording our city.  Two controlling city council bloc’s covertly and deeply indebted to special interest groups like HUB and to their developer campaign “investors”…  More on this Monday – stay tuned.

Mussatto Campaign Double Dipping Darwin Properties overtake of the proposed Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands is like every previous highrise developer that helped finance Mussatto’s 2014 campaign i.e. fornicating OCP’s TOOTHLESS Guidelines!


 Perhaps we should begin renaming the Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands “The Darwin I.O.U. Neighbourhood Lands”  The AUDACITY of Darwin proposing such a MAXIMUM SIZED development that could (will) include a 32 high storey condo PROVES just how deep they are into the mayor’s IOU pockets; with his city planners falling over backwards desperately seeking their nefarious commandant’s approval on this project!

Read’em and Weep: HARRY JEROME NEIGHBOURHOOD LANDS PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND POTENTIAL AMENITIES:  THAT my staff proceed with processing a rezoning and Official Community Plan amendment for the Harry Jerome Lands substantially as outlined in the report of the Director, Planning dated March 7, 2018, including:
– density of up to 2.5 FSR, including additional density to secure on-site amenities; (OMG)
– tower heights of up to 32 storey;
– creation of transferable density on the future Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre site – WTF!

Is this the beginning of city management showering final tributes to their leader who will be first and foremost remembered for his “4 to 3” OCP anarchism, city parking shortages, never taking advantage of provincial or federal affordable rental housing monies.  While a growing number of local businesses are unable to maintain or afford part-time help – driving business off our shore.  Topped off by his campaign donor developer lane closures, paralyzing traffic flows i.e. slow motioning getting anywhere on time which has also had an untimely adverse effect on our ambulance, police and fire departments emergency vehicles performance.

Under mayor MASSassto’s regime there has been absolutely NO REGARD to the fact we are already well over 2041 Regional Strategy (density/population) Levels… much like our OCP Guidelines a FARCICAL SHAM!  #replaceOCP2019

Now we’ll have to wait and see which corner office position Grinch has accepted.  Could it be at Onni/RPMG or Translink… I mean really, who else would be willing to use his convolute talents?  Wait a minute, oh yeah, Polygon, Anthem, Concert, Hollyburn, BCLC casinos or will he eventually end up in an executive suite on the 24th or is it 32nd floor at the Darwin Neighbourhood Lands?  #WeHaveHadEnoughOfMayorMussatto

August most viewed and then there was this bronze four-legged controversy… something right out of the Mussatto’s Twilight Zone.


Though there were no city council meetings in August of course, of course.  City residents were expressing to me all the while about the seemingly endless, en mass maddening construction sites and shrinking retail/commercial parking spaces.  And as city council headed into summer break there were city councillors willfully wanting to build a new Harry Jerome Enchilada Mega Dome whereby the trade-off is WTF: MORE DENSITY.  OMDB!   #EnoughDensity


Also in August though I did not publish this until ‘September 1st’… out of  the blue appeared this bronze four legged one hump camel placed in front of Onni’s no earthquake zone at ground zero twin towers on the corner of Lonsdale and 13th.  A precariously out-of-place beautifully carved bronze camel misrepresenting the type of camels used by our north shore miners during the mid 1800’s mini gold rush.  It has since been hoarded i.e. boarded-up until a plaque is made that will somehow explain away the fact that his is NOT the breed of camel used back in the day… can’t wait for the city’s derelict explanation via the art jury’s decision being so grotesquely negligent.

Looking Back at 2016: A Year Oozing in OCP Bonusing Anarchy – Part Two…


Featuring July through December’s NeverEnding Mussatto Team Slate Oligarchy Governance.

December’s featured cartoon was based on a recent conversation our waitress shared with us at a local Italian restaurant.  She overheard us talking about how rent was getting out of reach for so many local residents.  She wasted no time letting us know her parents were paying $1400 a month for her full basement suit a few blocks away while she was taking courses at Cap U.  She also iterated after finishing her studies she was going to look for career opportunities anywhere but on the North Shore as it was just too expensive – it didn’t make sense to her.  She grew up in a nice large family home with a big backyard that she missed and knew the only way she could ever see her dream home realized was to live in a small town in the BC interior far away from our North Shore unaffordability!

What our Mayor and his Team Slate Hijackers don’t realize is many of our Millennial’s want a home and not a cookie cutter apartment or as our waitress put it or a concrete condo.  Our mayor brags about the new attainable norm for our city is stacked cookie cutter condos and high ticketed apartments that “generational Canadians” are snubbing their noses at saying: “see ya”.  Our city is unfortunately attracting residents from Asia and other parts of the world where pricey stacked living conditions is the norm.  Most seemingly never expecting an affordable single detached home with a backyard, deck and double car garage.

So NV-ites we will not become a Ghost Town rather a culturally diversified, politically correct city where English will eventually become an optional second language… a consequential reality after fast-tracking density overload down the throats of its seniors, fixed income and blue collar: low to middle income generational families.

And it is a little ironic that way back last January I felt since having done a lot of illustrations for developers via architects.  It was only a matter of time before Hollyburn Properties owning the north and west corner of Lonsdale an 13 Street. (see January’s cartoon) Would knock on the mayor’s backroom door and say something like: hey density lover Mussatto time to shove our over density commercial and apartment development down the throats of those who elected you but did not ever help pay for your re-election campaign like we did.  And while we are at it we will STEAL some of your city hall’s FSR – now pay up!
