First kudos to our Canadian Paralympic Team in South Korea – capturing 28 medals! Only one less than our Canadian Olympic Team http://www.cbc.ca/sports/paralympics/paralympics-closing-wrap-1.4581555
Compositing these videos has been a challenge as with the new audio/video format the video streaming colour temperature is tinting facial skin tones purple. And the audio especially off the top never sounds ready and cuts out during (ironically) Public Input Period.
But not last Monday as out of the 15 or so who signed up for public input WTF 4 were conveniently developers or pro Mussatto supporters/donors who were selling their project wares for city council approval. It should be noted that NDP Moneybags Craig Keating who seems to only attend council meetings when the mayor needs “a majority” to enforce his “4 to 3” Team Hijackers empowerment “kiboshed” having more than 5 speakers at the 6:39 mark! And of course there was NO wide shot or 3 group shot of Councillor Keating voting against! (despicable camera work)
IF elected to city council I would really like to see Public Input Period changed to “Neighbourhood Input Period”. And of course stop having city council meetings on is it a holiday or not this Monday. This would give everyone one more day to examine and digest the contents of any agenda posted the prior Friday.
So without further adieu here is my first of 3 or 4 video replay excerpts from the March 12 Monday night city council fight card.
Isn’t it ironic a siren could be heard in the distance at a very key moment in last Monday Night’s city council meeting as our City Clerk was proclaiming to council by order of commandant Mussatto the Rezoning Application: 2601 Lonsdale Avenue (Pezzente Holdings Inc. /GBL Architects) to a public hearing previously in a Feb 5th meeting denied; deferred and referred back to city planning for further review regarding proposal size & scale, readdressing traffic flow concerns and lack of no more green space. Even councillor Buchanan, an ol’ vet NSN paper carrier to this area felt it needed a community concerns redress much to the chagrin of her commandant and guru – whom curiously was absent from last Monday night’s fight card… hmm. #DemocracyVetoed
A year ago I ran a similar blog, and it is as fresh today as it was last February. Nothing has changed when it comes to our mayor staying the psycho-ling course; steadfastly obedient and accordant for SO FEW winter cyclists. After all his derelict legacy is dependent on it. #CNVSOL
Another pet peeve of mine is Monday’s Agenda is not posted much before Friday noon. Releasing a city council agenda with only hours before a weekend is just one more example of the mayor and City Clerk unable or is it unwilling to deliver an agenda until the very last inauspicious minute. And if their excuse is there’s just not enough time to prepare prior to a city council meeting; then may I suggest any upcoming relevant agenda be prepared/discovered one full week prior. Allowing everyone time to study, digest and prepare for that upcoming city council meeting… I know this is OMG blasphemy – but only until October 20th – 34 weeks from tomorrow.
With so little new business being offered by city council since the new year, one should wonder “what’s going on.” Could it be we really have run out of real estate and all that is really left for our mayor’s “Grinch” legacy is where to put his campaign IOU Tom Nellis’ and BCLC’s casino. But just where do you put it with so few options left available… maybe for starters one of the following options: “A” or “B”.
And lest we forget the casino has already been democratically knocked out in a 5 to 2 decision in a 2015 city council meeting. The overturning of a defeated casino can only further seal our mayor’s Napoleonic infamy – his “I.O.U. Waterloo.”
And keep in mind wannabe mayor Linda Buchanan was one of the city councillor’s who changed her vote, largely because the new proposal isn’t related to the Shipyards or any other public (Presentation House) lands. Buchanan: “The previous application was very specifically wanting to go on public property and we were very adamant, and I’m still very adamant, I would not support anything being on our waterfront.” Thereby this option is not in the cards for councillor Buchanan who received a campaign donation from Pinnacle aka RPGM De Cotiis family and K&T Properties Tom Nellis and from oh so many more developers she indebted herself. http://contributions.electionsbc.gov.bc.ca/pcs/lepublished/100122857.pdf
And how could I not… move over “rap crap”
January was a heavier than normal traffic viewed month. My public domain city council edited graphic videos seemed to have upped my blog’s viewership. Therefore plan on creating more as warranted or until the mayor decides to fade to black video streaming like he did back on Jan. 29th city council meeting.
It was a carryover month from December when it came to CNV bylaw 8500 enforcement; becoming seemingly at times redundant since May 11, 2015. Unforced errors by mayor Mussatto, councillor Keating and the whispering Chatty Cathy councilors Buchanan and Back. Two contemptibles whom to this day have not stood up against the mayor’s camel toe inference. Steadfastly, remaining silent, “apathetic towards their own gender.” #MeToo #VoteChangeOct20
I realize my blog at times can be quite cynical in the caricaturing of the mayor, his team slate councillors and managerial city staff. But I have discovered over the 3 years I have posted my blog that other related and more politically correct blogs and other handle-me-with-care media outlets has not advanced or had any effect on the mayor and his 4 to 3 autocratic rule of thumb. His vainglorious CityShaping vision consists of paving 20 million of tax payers dollars on failing bike lanes and surrendering our skyline to his OCP over densified developer investors from his 2014 re-election campaign. The mayor’s SHORTsightedness “putting the cart ahead of the horse” has left our daily transportation infrastructures in dire gridlock while local small businesses are unable to keep or find local part time help whom in turn can no longer afford to live in our city.
For me the most disturbing aspect during Mussatto’s dictatorship reign is the loss of so many hardworking people who have landscaped, forged our city’s heritage. Households from our once thriving lower class, people on fixed incomes, single parent families, seniors, artists and young families. Many having been displaced, evicted from our city’s shores without a thank you or ever offering temporary housing assistance – Arrivederci, good riddance eh Grinch.
But I am beginning to read and hear more voices standing up against our mayor and his team slate councillors stranglehold on our city. Like discerning voices on pages 3 & 4 “Change We Want” in the recently published The Global Canadian Newspaper. Also checkout their facebook page featuring other related stories: http://www.facebook.com/theglobalcanadian/.
Finally CNVites are standing up, fed up with all the density and failing related infrastructures, drawing a line in the sand… “enough is enough!” Change in municipal governance is on its way come October 20th – Arrivederci Mussatto Team Slate councillors!
Note the logo/badge on Mussatto’s Napoleonic hat is the iconic ‘Anarchy symbol’. Representing the mayor and his 3 Team Slate city councillors autocratic “4 to 3” empowering decision making on ALL OCP DENSITY BONUS High Rises and bylaw amendments and higher density re-zoning on behalf of many campaign donor developers.
Last Monday night Councillor and wannabe mayor Buchanan wanted to know: “what is driving our congestion” while noting a decrease in West Van City population. Then blaming added ferry route traffic, commuter bridge bottlenecks and NEVER focusing in on our city’s inner traffic volume congestion and lane closures she helped create and will continue to forge by voting in favour of one OCP over density development after another and always without ample parking. Projects since her re-election in late 2014 that have put our inner city traffic modes and means in an endless chokehold. Advocating and prioritizing inane 20 million dollar cycling lanes which have not put a dent (pun intended) “eased” our transportation woes – not one iota!
Stache POV: Noteworthy is now with the new camera playback format all we can see are single tight shots of councillors at city hall council meetings. The mayor has unscrupulously done away with wider group and full shots catching councillors Buchanan and Back whisper chatting while one of their none Team Slate city councillors is speaking. Or shots of councillor Keating when he decides to show up for a council meeting, forever and ever texting or looking down at his laptop perhaps doing other unrelated business communique on city taxpayers dollar. #disingenuousMayor #tightShots
