101 years ago “the Russian Empire” experienced the Bolshevik Revolution giving rise to the “Soviet Union.” Today are we on a much, much lesser scale here on the North Shore about to witness a DNVC Councillor “Bassam-vik Peoples Union” takeover of our “NVC Council Democracy.”

In today’s blog I’m going out on the limb hoping most will see the historic humour and apropos sarcasm in my copy and re-worked NVCV banner.

The North Van City Voices Blog should maybe change (in the short term) their name to the DISTRICT VOICES!  (much like the NSNews should change its name to NS District Rag)  Re: WELCOMING the news the District of North Vancouver is making a new as in – nothing has changed – at amalgamating with the City of North Vancouver.  This from a blog that says it is non-political – doesn’t take sides – really.  A seemingly “pro District blog” supporting power to the (Bolshevik) District City Council over our city council democracy – promoting “anarchy” or is it a District revolution er amalgamation coup!  And with a wanton District amalgamation/revolution on the horizon will we be looking at a plebiscite aka Red October 20th Ballot Box.  #DNVBolshevikRevolution

In the 2014 city elections the only pro amalgamation mayoral candidate was George Pringle and he received less than a thousand votes with mayor Mussatto squeaking out victory over Kerry Morris who was neither for or against.  As one fellow coffee mate gal put it to me recently “is Kerry running as a double agent”.  But in all fairness he further iterated the matter needs a detailed examination which we should do.  But your current “elected city council” insists nothing has changed, so what further detailed examination is necessary when “nothing has changed?”

Also on election night besides Morris and possibly Pringle running for mayor there will be at least two more candidates… “Someone” from the NSCAA as in maybe Guy Heywood who in his archived blog was all for amalgamation thus leaving WTH wannabe mayor Linda Buchanan the only one seemingly opposed to the reunification of the two cities.

Hey little sister city – it’s a nice day to start again… Potential District Coup White Wedding Unplugged Theme Song?

They say: “Some things are best left unsaid. But when it comes to amalgamation between CNV and DNV well…”

Once again DNV mayor Walton won’t take NO for an answer, wanting CNV to join his city in a reunification dance.  What Walton doesn’t realize is our city council and staff dance card is FULL.  It seemingly already has more than enough on its plate with the likes of a HJ Megadome, paying off Darwin Properties in an overtake of the existing HJCRC and Silver Harbour Centre, lawn bowling greens and tennis courts and possibly sliding in an unwanted neighbourhood casino!  #Enough!

But here we go again, round two or is it round 8 with the District wanting to reopen this can of worms which if you listen closely to the following video has very little to offer our city.  But unfortunately councillors Bell, Keating, Buchanan and our infamous mayor feel otherwise in that we should once again at taxpayers and city staff expense re-entertain Walton’s proposition whereby NOTHING HAS CHANGED or even being vaguely offered in Walton’s latest attempt at reeling in a ‘last chance’ reunification legacy!  #ShameOnMayorWalton

The following video is a snap shot though lengthy, as I want to show just how adamantly opposed the idea/threat of amalgamation/reunification is with all our city councillors though OMG four are still willing to do the Walton Amalgamation Waltz.  My video has not been cosmetically tampered (mayor) or have I added any balloon comments only bridge copy between cuts to the point of not temperature colour correcting councillors 3 shot purple complexions.  #WaltonAmaglamationWaltz

Walton’s love letter will only further divide our two cities.  #GetStuffed
