Last Monday night’s meeting of the CNV mayoral minds did not disappoint. Millennial mayoral candidate Michael Willcock stole most of the scenes being played out in front of a packed Centennial Theatre.
Mayor wannabe’s Heywood and Morris spoke in precise “matter of fact” verse, offering clear alternatives in how to best move the city forward. While incumbents Buchanan & Clark were hailing their sanctimonious city council records that empathically contradict their reprehensible city council records. #BuchananClarkHypocrites
Right from the get go, Linda Buchanan during her “why I want to be this city’s next night-mayor” should have i.e. “the truth be known” CONFESSED she has in her hip pocket not one but at least FIVE candidates running for city councillor! Wishing and hoping city voters will BLINDLY, UNBEKNOWNST TO THEM, elect at least THREE of her underhanded Team Slate lackeys. #SubversiveBuchanan
Thereby guaranteeing and enabling a “4 to 3” continuation in more psycho-ling paths for the 2% who bike to work and further densifying and gentrifying every neighbourhood AT WILL as her city council record clearly bears out while continuing to IGNORE MOST NIMBY PETITIONS!

And how could I not…
The countdown is on not only for Density Darrel Mussatto as mayor, but also the departure – the end of the line for my CNV editorial cartoon blog… There were many themed Arty and Density Darrell blogs I could have chosen re: that’s a wrap… but this one in particular exemplifies the contrast between “principled” Aristolski and “unscrupulous” mayor Mussatto… September 2016, enjoy.
When you have time take a peek at Guy Heywood and Kerry Morris websites. BOTH could have been written by the other. BOTH offering similar catchy issue themes around housing affordability, traffic congestion, parking, unsettling business climate and offering “open governance”. But nowhere – so far are either one or any candidate running for city mayor offering “open donor transparency.”
In today’s cartoon I have Heywood and Morris joined at the collar bone. But to be fair to Kerry he is not fully committed to the twining of CNV & DNV and in the same breath not ready to denounce amalgamation. As one coffee mate expressed to me: “Is Morris simply swimming upstream in order to reel-in Heywood’s amalgamation supporters.” #youDecide
It is no secret that my blog leans towards Kerry Morris being the city’s next mayor. But IF there was ever a mayoral candidate who mirrored most of his or Heywood’s website and emphatically did not support amalgamation and ran on an: in your face open transparent donor policy… my blog would surely be at their disposal. #daylightCampaign
Hello 911… CNV is in dire need of an independent mayor and untainted city councillors i.e. who are not beholding to a mayoral team and in turn indebted to their vulturous developer donor pals in order to thwart their cout d’etat agenda down the throats of its NIMBY’s… HELP!
First I want to thank all those who wanted to support my run for city councillor. This was by no means an easy decision, triggered by June 18’s underhanded Harry Jerome Lands Rezoning Public Hearing and then the unconscionable audacity of Darwin/Collier Realty to release “in print’ the knowledge that Harry Jerome Lands behind Harry Jerome Neighbourhood resident’s back is a foregone conclusion!
The 8 to 9 years needed to construct these premeditated faulty towers and annihilation of the existing Harry Jerome Lands is the straw that broke my camel’s back. I will not spend a decade in a convoluting “destroy and build” city council SELLOUT CONSTRUCTION ZONE!
Moving on… We are only “101 days or 14 weeks + 3 days” away from electing a new mayor & hopefully six “new” neighbourly city councillors. Currently we have two insiders and 1 1/2 outsiders, Guy Heywood having served previously on the 2009 city council running for mayor… Curious, does anyone know what happened to Heywood’s drummed-up NVCAA regime? Their website is MIA.
With 4 candidates running for mayor maybe we’ll begin to read and hear a little “pre-season” mayoral race trash talk along with fireworks turfing and boasting on who is best suited to be our new leader. Wouldn’t it be nice if these four familiar contenders inspired others to run for mayor. Mayoral candidates bringing a breath of fresh air in social & economic perspectives. Especially after being held hostage for 4 long years by a city council that is developer compliant and anti NIMBY! But running for mayor ain’t cheap, same goes running for city councillor!
I left out pro-amalgamation George Pringle who has not officially thrown-in his hat into the mayor’s ring. In the last election he received around 300 votes. But it would be interesting in having two amalgamation candidates running and see who would get the majority of the CNV “307” who voted in favour i.e. twinning of our North Shore cities from the recent farcical District/NRG reunification survey.
In our upcoming election with limited mayoral spending limits and donor restrictions, don’t be surprised if at least one of our contender’s legitimacy is impaired by their campaign disingenuous endeavours. Much like Guy Heywood noted & presented at a March 2015 city council meeting… https://nvcityvoices.wordpress.com/2015/page/14/
Let the mayoral war games begin!
Tonight is all about proposing once again changes to our toothless OCP bylaws and of course “amending zoning bylaws” to accommodate the inane density madness proposed for the HJ Neighbourhood Lands.
The amount of density pollution, traffic & parking chaos this community will have to endure for at least eight long years should be criminal at best. But try telling that to Mussatto’s Team backers “indebted” to their 2014 campaign investor Darwin Construction… or try telling that to city councillors who want to devastate a community in the name of Olympic swimmers and curlers MOST whom do not live in our city! #UpperLonsdaleSOL
Should we not expect as in like always, Harry Jerome resident voices to be heard then overruled by the end of tonight’s Public Hearing.
If there was ever a double dealing reason, need to bring down our city council on October 20th – this is it… Unless common sense prevails and a majority of Councillors decide to put these ‘can’t have one without the other’ projects on a back burner to be served up later by the yet to be elected new city council. #Vote4ChangeOct20
Unfortunately there’s too much horse trading willingness on both sides not to expect a fatal devastating blow to the HJ community… If there was ever a time to believe in 5 act play.
A contentious night it will surely be… giddy up!
The feature bout from last Monday Night’s fight card was reinforcing the need for a public town hall meeting featuring this year’s Main Event: Building a new Harry Jerome Sports Enchilada that no other North Shore city would dare venture and all on the backs of a neighbourhood who have overwhelming been against this “Sports” not ‘Community’ Rec Centre AND chained to its hip is an 8 year crushing towering OCP rezoning en masse Mussatto donor development!
The odds on favourite i.e. hitting below the money belt favours a new
Community “Sporting” Harry Jerome mega structure and an en masse Darwin twin towering development i.e. basically shitting on the neighbourhood residents. Screw you NIMBY’s, senior lawn bowlers and Norseman Park – skateboard lovers. We (Back, Bell, Bookham, Clark) can get re-elected without your damn NIMBY support on October 20th!
Here are just a few choice video clips I pulled from last Monday’s city council meeting dealing with the new proposed HJ ‘Sports Centre’ & Darwin Lands verses the city’s neighbourhood from each councillor. Which I am sure all will be reiterating at the June 18th Public Hearing… Even our mayor is on record (District ★ Trojan Crier aka NSN) saying: you don’t buy the house and then figure out how to pay for it.
First up is Councillor Keating’s POV – pulling back the curtains!
Then along comes Councillors Bell and Back…
Wrapping up Councillors Buchanan, Bookham and Clark…
I’ve been asked a number of times… do your love bird seagulls have names – not yet. If anyone has any suggestions would certainly entertain them and would give due credit in an upcoming seagull themed blog.
Re: City Electoral Signs; it has been brought to my attention that last Monday night’s city election bylaws and update re: “Sign Bylaw, 1992, No. 6363” (not the 8643 Elections Assent Voting bylaw). i.e. Limits (prohibits) pre-election campaign materials has already been contested and defeated in BC court and was found to be in breach of S.2(b) of the Charter of Freedoms and Rights! It appears campaign advertising on bike signs or even at bus stop shelters prior the six week election period does not break any laws… however it appears the City has, namely our constitution! (more on Monday) #ConstitutionalSignBylawViolations
Let the free-for-all sign wars begin!
